Welcoming Message

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to welcome you to Seoul National University for the International Conference on Education Research (ICER) 2018. At a time when political, social, cultural, and economic conflicts cause unending inter-state confrontations, I invite you to join us in this vibrant platform for what we are sure will be an active discussion on the goal of education for development in the 21st century.

For this year, I am pleased to announce the theme of ¡°Education for Democracy and Social Justice: Global, National, and Local Contexts.¡± It will provide participants to reflect on the role of education in restoring humanity and constructing democratic and just social relations. This involves increasing the capability of all individuals to live a life to the fullest and fostering democratic citizenship to live in harmony. I believe it is imperative to engage in the dialogue on how education research and practice can contribute to the development of individuals as well as the local, national and global community. ICER 2018 will provide academics and researchers from various fields to exchange ideas and foster meaningful opportunities for collaborations.

The conference will be held in the Hoam Faculty House, Seoul, the foremost cosmopolitan city as the capital of Republic of Korea, from October 17 to 19, 2018. This year¡¯s program will include inspiring keynote speakers, panels, and presenters all around the world to highlight the conference theme.

I would like to thank you in advance for your interest to take part in our program. We look forward to meeting all of you in October 2018.

Best regards,

Sun-Geun Baek,
Conference President
